SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME
If you are competing at a regional or international level in your sport you could be eligible for support and funding through one of our Sports Scholarship schemes. Our aim is to help you balance a demanding training and competition schedule with the pressures of achieving a high quality degree. Over the years we have supported many athletes who have gone on to compete atthe highest level including Paralympic Gold.
Each scholarship includes a variety of cash awards, funding for competitions and training, access to; facilities, physio, sports science and strength and conditioning, mentor support and clothing.
Our scholarship programme runs on three levels:
These scholarships are aimed at exceptionally talented athletes who have the potential to compete on the World stage and at the 2016 Olympics (and beyond). Significant funding will be able to support any athlete deemed at this level on a case-by-case basis.
To apply for an elite scholarship you must be an athlete who has national representation in team sports at U21 or senior level and are on the TASS scheme or identified in the top 10 at U21 level in your relevant sport. You can also apply to this scheme if you are competing for national U18/U21 teams or with a national top 10 ranking at U18s.
To apply for a Development Scholarship you must be an athlete who has national U18 representation or a top 10 ranking at U18 level. You can also apply to this scheme if you are competing in the top domestic tier of your sport, if you can demonstrate the ability to achieve national representation or if you are selected for English Universities elite level representation. We will give priority to Athletic Union Sports.
Our schemes are primarily aimed at EIS priority sports and Olympic sports. Other sports may be considered on a case-by-case basis. However the panel will need to be reassured that the Governing Body of the sport is well established and that the standard of competition is comparable across sports.
Application forms can be downloaded here and closing date for 2016/17 academic year will be Sunday 18th September 2016
