Edd Activator

Activator of the Month (March): Edd Stolliday

Congratulations for our Activator of the Month, Edd Stolliday, our Football Activator!

Edd is currently in his final year of University studying Combined Modern Languages.  Whilst juggling his assessments and exams, he oversees the delivery of our Campus Sport Football leagues which takes place five days a week. In addition to his role as Football Activator, Edd also referees on a weekly football league and plays tennis within the University’s ladder league.

This semester, Edd has signed 67 teams up to our Campus Sport leagues – twelve of which are brand new to the programme for term two.

With unexpected changes to fixtures last month, Edd has used his initiative to overcome any issues. He has pre-empted any challenges, overcome barriers and communicated effectively with the teams involved. He has ensured the programme remained on track, even when faced with the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.

Edd has also been proactive in arranging the play-off fixtures for leagues and closely monitoring teams to address any discipline issues. In addition to this, he has also started to plan an end of term tournament for students who are in need of de-stressing during exam period.

Throughout his role as Football Activator, Edd has continued to develop his self-confidence, communication and organisation skills. He has been an integral part of the team which has made Campus Sport such a success. Thanks Edd!

Our Activators and Coordinators are a team of student volunteers who help to run the 'Get Active, Stay Active' programme. Funded by Sport England, the programme is available all year round to students and staff at the University of Portsmouth. The sessions are either free-of-charge or at reduced costs. There are over 50 sessions a week in 25 sports available – and membership is free!
