Congratulations for our Activator of the Term, Emily Seaman, our Dodgeball Activator!
Emily is currently in her third year at the University of Portsmouth, studying Human Physiology. She has shown a real passion for getting students active in dodgeball this term. Within the first taster week of the year, Emily helped to engage 165 participants!
Managing and coordinating an average of 40 participants each week has proven easy to Emily who received positive feedback from participants. A large number of them went on to join the Dodgeball Club within the Athletic Union, with many taking up the sport for the first time.
This semester, we will host a second dodgeball league. This would not have been established without Emily’s hard work. If you are interested in applying for the league, check out our Campus Sport page for more information! The deadline to register your team is 11th January.
“Being a dodgeball activator is very important to me as I can pass on my passion for sport, making it enjoyable for others whilst building my own self-confidence. I am developing leadership skills essential to any future career path I choose to follow be that in education or within the NHS.” – Emily Seaman
Our Activators and Coordinators are a team of student volunteers who help to run the ‘Get Active, Stay Active‘ programme. Funded by Sport England, the programme is available all year round to students and staff at the University of Portsmouth. Sessions are either free-of-charge or at reduced costs, with over 50 sessions a week in 25 sports. Also – membership is free!
Interested in becoming an Activator for a particular sport, or want to know more about our Get Active programme? Please contact Alex Cole (email@example.com) to find out how you can be part of the team.
