We manage the University’s gym and health, fitness and wellbeing programmes. Our gym membership package gives access to our four-story gym, extensive group exercise class programme, racket sports (badminton, squash, tennis and table tennis) and other sports facilities.

We believe in providing a great environment for all our users, regardless of ability. This enables everybody to have the best chance of succeeding. Whether you are looking to give something new a try or you have ambitions of performing at a higher level, you will be in the best place to reach your goals.

    Staff and students with parking permits may park free of charge. There is a £2 parking charge for all other customers, via the pay-and-display machines operated by Portsmouth City Council on behalf of the University. SH’BAM is an ego-free zone, no dance experience required. All you need for SH’BAM™ is a playful attitude and a cheeky smile for this fun-loving, insanely addictive dance workout. We offer 45 or 30-minute workouts.

CXWORX

All the moves in CXWORX have options, so it’s challenging but achievable for your own level of fitness. A stronger core makes you better at all things you do, from everyday life to your favourite sports. CXWORX provides the vital ingredient for a stronger body. We offer 30-minute workouts.

BODYPUMP 

BODYPUMP is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, it gives you a total body workout. You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more. We offer 55, 45 or 30-minute workouts.

BODYCOMBAT

Step into a BODYCOMBAT workout and you’ll punch and kick your way to fitness. You’ll release stress, have a blast and feel like a champ. This high-energy martial-arts inspired workout is totally non-contact and there are no complex moves to master. We offer 55 or 30 minute workouts.

BODYBALANCE

Ideal for everyone, BODYBALANCEis a yoga-based class that will improve your mind, your body and your life. An inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. We offer 30 minute and 60 minute classes.

GRASS FOOTBALL A...

Grass football and rugby

We have 6 grass football and 2 grass rugby pitches. Our barriered 1st team football pitch is of the highest standard and hosts Portsmouth FC reserve games. Unfortunately we have no availability for grass bookings for the 2015/16 season.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Personal training

Personal training is available to purchase at reception upto 6 months in advance. We offer packages of either 5 or 10 sessions at a duration of 30 or 60 minutes per session. This product is for those who want a personal service where the instructor plans each session for them based on their short, medium and long term goals.

Programme (FREE 4 weekly review)

These 60 minute sessions are a member only privilege and are bookable up to 7 days in advance either online, via the app or at reception. This product is for those who want a bespoke programme designed for them that they can follow in the gym after without an instructor.

1-2-1 sessions

These 30 minute sessions are a member only privilege and are bookable up to 7 days in advance either online, via the app or at reception. This product is suitable for those who need some support or advice with an exercise, piece or equipment or training method. These should not be used for an individual training session.

Health and Fitness Courses

We offer a free Physiotherapy service for students with chronic or acute injuries during term time. The Clinic is held at St Paul’s Road Gym on Thursdays during our opening times. You will need to book direct with the NHS via its referral system. Please click on the link below for contact details and how to book. Once your form is completed you need to send it back to St Mary’s or Queen Alexandra Hospital and contact them to arrange for your appointment at St Paul’s Sports Centre.
