Opportunity to work with an international athlete

Would you like to work with an international athlete and help support them as they aim for the Paralympic Games?

 

University of Portsmouth alumnus and previous Sports Scholar, Cecelia ‘Ce’ Turk is looking for a new ramp assistant. The role will support Ce during her training sessions and within competitions. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in competitive sport!
Ce Turk plays boccia, a precision ball game, similar to Bocce, Bowls and Petanque. It is played at National and International Level and at the Paralympics by athletes with severe impairments but delivered with incredible technical skill, intriguing strategy and tactics and a massive amount of tension. It is practiced in over fifty countries worldwide.
Ce has recently achieved  Gold in the Boccia England Pairs, and captained the winning team in the new National Boccia Superleague both in 2018. Ce achieved 4th place in both individuals and pairs at the Scottish International Open in October 2017. She was also the 2017 Boccia England Cup Champion.
The role will consist of supporting Ce as her ‘on court’ assistant during her training schedule of various hours across 3 days a week. You will also have the opportunity to accompany her on competitions within the UK and possible internationally. As a member of her team, you will be eligible to earn competition medals alongside her.
Another University of Portsmouth alumnus and previous Sports Scholar, Dan Bentley, was assisted by a University of Portsmouth student in a similar role. His team achieved bronze in the London Paralympic Games 2012, with all team members eligible to receive a medal.
