University of Portsmouth Community Football Club – Coaching Roles

 

Portsmouth Football Pathway is a collaboration between The University of Portsmouth Community Football Club (boys teams at under 11 – under 14 & girls teams at under 9 – under 14) and Soccer Scholar Academy (mixed teams, under 7 – under 10). We have a shared vision and coaching philosophy which focuses on developing young children as individuals through football, ensuring we provide a positive learning environment. We have a holistic approach to coaching, delivering sessions using the FA four corner model, focusing on physical, psychological, and social skills, as well as the technical and tactical elements of football.  

Training Details:

Thursdays, 4pm – 5.30pm (u7 – u10 teams) at Langstone Campus, Furze Lane

Thursdays, 5.30pm – 7pm (u11 – u14 teams) at Langstone Campus, Furze Lane


Match Details:

Saturday mornings (UOPFC teams), various locations / times

Sunday mornings (Soccer Scholar Academy teams), various locations / times


We are looking for QUALIFIED football coaches to join our club in the following roles:

Head Coach

The responsibilities of the Head Coach include:

  • Attending all training sessions and match days in the season.
  • Planning and delivering training sessions, in line with the Portsmouth Football Pathway’s coaching syllabus and coaching philosophy.
  • Organising the squad for match days, communicating details with parents.
  • Managing the squad and environment on match days.
  • Communicating regularly with the Assistant Coach on training delivery, match day management, and evaluating sessions / games.
  • Communicating regularly with the Club Secretary for fixture details, results and player registrations.
  • Communicating regularly with the Technical Director, evaluating your coaching, seeking development opportunities, and informing any pre-arranged absences.
  • Engaging with CPD opportunities to enhance personal development.

Applicants must:

  • Have an FA Level 1 qualification.
  • Have/be working towards FA Level 2 qualification.
  • Have an in-date FA Safeguarding & FA First Aid qualification.
  • Complete an FA DBS check prior to starting the role.
  • Have previous coaching experience.
  • Be reliable and organised.

  • Paid work: £8 – £10 per hour, based on experience and following the 6-week probation period.

Assistant Coach

The responsibilities of the Assistant Coach include:

  • Attend all training sessions and match days in the season.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of training sessions and match days, in line with the Portsmouth Football Pathway’s coaching syllabus and coaching philosophy.
  • Communicate regularly with the Head Coach on training delivery, match day management, and evaluating sessions/games.
  • Communicating regularly with the Technical Director, evaluating your coaching, seeking development opportunities, and informing any pre-arranged absences.
  • Engaging with CPD opportunities to enhance personal development.

 

 

Applicants must:
