Welcome to the first Wash Up of 2020. What a year it promises to be and I hope the scent of victory never strays too far from your collective nostrils –
Right then, here we go and kicking us off this week is Cricket President, Scott Dale with a round up of how Men’s 1sts got in their Indoor Southern Trophy Qualifier on Saturday.

So all this means that the 1’s now qualify for the Trophy Finals Day in Leicester in a fortnight’s time. Of course we will bring you all the news from that event and news from Women’s 1sts as they head to Birmingham for the Super 8’s Championship Finals Day.
Men’s 1sts triumphed in their all-Portsmouth Quarter Final on Sunday at Spinnaker, defeating their 2nd team counterparts, 13-7 to earn a Home Semi Final against Surrey 1sts on the 23rd of February. An entertaining encounter went the way of the 1’s with goals from hat-trick heroes and 1st Team, Man of the Match, Harry Bailey & Ben Chev’ who both scored 4 goals apiece, Argemiro Sassa & James Douglas both bagged braces and Nevada grabbed a goal on debut. Assists for the 1’s came from Sassa  Bailey & Douglas  Josh Barrett and Alex Mills . Goals for the 2nds in reply came from Cormac McAinsh [2nd Team MOM] & Josh Harrop  Jamie Fraser, Abdulla Alharami and Alex Younge . McAinish also grabbed an assist as the 2nds just came up short. Both teams return to league action on Sunday with the 2nds travelling to Westminster 1sts and the 1’s off to Brighton 2nds as both look to maintain their respective promotion challenges.
In an all-Portsmouth league encounter at Spinnaker on Friday night, Men’s 1sts overcame their 2nd team counterparts 59-42 to keep them top of Tier 3 with 4 matches left to play. Point scorers for the 1’s were – T. Olorunsola  F. Porter  J. Johnson  A. Berida  A. Grant  T. Austin & L. Tamosauskas  and A. Aguado Basso  as they secured a vital win. The 2’s scorers were – A. Thompson  A. Maughan  D. Strodahs & D. Mason  I. Britton-Okpara  E.Howard & J. Campbell . On Wednesday, the 2’s travel to Surrey 2nds whereas the 1’s will journey to the capital to take on Imperial 2nds, where they will be looking to take another win, and keep their title challenge firmly on track.
Now I’ll pass you onto Commodore, Hebe Hemming, with a quick update on how Sailing got on in Warwick –
Two teams headed to the Warwick Turtle last weekend, and sailing started early the next morning despite a distinct lack of wind. Portsmouth Pink started the day well with 2 wins (a shock to most) with Portsmouth Purple getting to grips with the course and the shifty conditions. A subsequent 3 races were completed by both teams on the Saturday, everyone learning from every race and trying out different manoeuvres and approaches. Sunday morning was a different story to Saturday, with strong winds and the occasional capsize (from others teams). Portsmouth Pink and Purple sailed four more races, each time improving on their finishing combination. A great weekend had by all, with lots of lessons learnt and great to see some new faces on the team for this event.
