This Girl Can Week

THIS GIRL CAN week is back!

19th-25th November

This Girl Can is a national campaign developed by Sport England, encouraging women of all abilities to get active. Returning between the 19th- 25th of November, the week has loads of ways for you to get involved. Partnering with UPSU for the week, we have a great range of opportunities available. From FREE gym sessions to sport sessions to trying your hand at ‘Strictly’ style dancing, there is something for every girl.

The sessions are more focused on breaking down barriers, keeping you happy and healthy than your ability, so give it a go.

There’s no judgement, so forget about your face getting red, remembering the steps and just get involved! Because after all #fithappens.

What’s Happening?

Want to get back into netball? Always wanted to give squash ago? Now is your chance. Sports sessions available include football, dodgeball, handball and touch rugby as well as many more. St Paul’s Gym is holding Female Weight Workshops to build your confidence and technique with help from our qualified instructors. All the sessions are welcoming to beginners, friendly and supportive while also being challenging to those used to exercise.

We also have a talk arranged from the Breast Health Research group within the Department of Sport and Exercise Science. They’ll be talking about why a good sports bra is so important to those exercising. This is the first time we’ve run an event of this kind, so ensure you book a place to save your spot. The Research Group in Breast Health is internationally renowned for research on the biomechanics of the breast. The group are responsible for over half of the scientific publications in this area and regularly present work nationally and internationally. The Research Group is well known with millions of media mentions worldwide and commercial collaborations with many of the major lingerie, sports bra and sporting apparel manufacturers around the world. The Research Group aims to increase scientific knowledge of breast health, and to raise awareness of this important aspect of women’s health.

For all sessions available use the buttons below or check on the Sport and Recreation app – UOP Sport.
